I know who You are

Mark 1
21. Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught.
22. And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
23. Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,
24. saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are the Holy One of God!"
25. But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"
NKJV

Not only was the life of the Lord Jesus sinlessly holy, but the teaching of Jesus was also direct and revealing, and it made the unclean spirit in this man so uncomfortable that it declared its presence loudly.

This is what the unclean spirit said:
"Let us alone!
What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth?
Did You come to destroy us?
I know who You are the Holy One of God!" (v24)

Its first statement is interesting: "Leave us alone! Don't bother us!"
It speaks of itself in the plural, meaning that there was more than one of them. But evidently the chief one was addressing Jesus, because it finishes by saying "I know who You are?"

In other words, "Jesus, You may have exposed me, but I can also expose Your identity."It calls Jesus by His name and then followed by identifying Him as a destroyer of unclean spirits and as the Holy One of God.

The afflicted man himself, would have had no access to this information, and even if he did, would have felt no need to say this publicly about Jesus at all.But the unclean spirit had no such inhibition once it was exposed.

The book of James puts it this way:
19. You believe that there is one God.
You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble!
(James 2 NKJV)

It is wonderful that when Jesus exposed this evil through His teaching, He also had the authority and desire to rid the man of this awful blight upon his life.So Jesus commanded it to be quiet and to leave the man's life.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that it is not Your desire that my life be blighted by any evil which comes to destroy me.
Your desire for me is life, not destruction.
Again today I put my life into Your hands and ask that You remove from my life anything that hinders my progress in You,
in Jesus' mighty name,
Amen.
